Star anise, also known as star aniseed, or Chinese star anise is a small native evergreen tree of northeast Vietnam and southwest China. The star shaped fruits are harvested just before ripening. We bring our star anise from Iran, where it is called Badian.

Modern pharmacology studies demonstrated that star anise extracts crude extracts and active compounds possess wide pharmacological actions, especially in antimicrobial, antibacterial, antioxidant, insecticidal, analgesic, sedative and convulsive activities.






To make star anise tea, bring a mug’s worth of water to a boil in a teapot or kettle. Put a teaspoonful of star anise into a tea ball or place it directly into the tea cup. Pour boiling water over them in the cup. Allow the tea to steep for about five minutes. The longer you steep the tea, the stronger it will be. Drink it hot!



You can also create a nice herbal cocktail with star anise! Boil cinnamon in a water kettle for a minute, then infuse a teaspoonful of star anise in it! Add honey, let the mixture cool down, refrigerate, add ice, and enjoy!
