Elder is a large shrub with corky, gray-brown bark with feathery leaves. It bears white flowers early in the summer and dark, almost black, berries in the late summer.

The taste of elderflower is refreshing, with a modest flavor, a floral taste, and it is clean and soft.


Soothing qualities: 


Drinnk elder flower tea if you're a bit feverish, it will soothe your fever by bringing on sweating. It is used especially for situations in which the feverish person feels chilled, and the tea is drunk as hot as possible. Also, a cooled infusion has traditionally been used as a gargle for a mildly sore throat.






To drink elder flower tea, put a bit of elder flower into a mug’s worth of very hot water, let it stay, drain, and drink twice per day.
